Recent years have seen dynamic development of Russian-African ties, with a significant expansion and deepening of cooperation in various areas, particularly in the raw materials sector. Today, Africa is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world, with significant industrial potential.

The Russian-African raw materials dialogue aims to serve as a key platform for strategic interaction between representatives of government, business, science, and education in Russia and African countries, serving as a catalyst for mutually beneficial cooperation in the mineral resources sector.

The goal of the Dialogue is to develop specific mechanisms and recommendations for overcoming existing contradictions, improving government regulation, implementing advanced technologies, and training highly qualified personnel for the mineral resources sector.

The event is a development and implementation of initiatives on Russian-African cooperation supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov within the framework of the Second Summit of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum (2023, St. Petersburg) and the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum (2024, Sochi).

The Programme provides for the participation of representatives of federal and regional governments of participating countries and governments of the African region, representatives of large and medium-sized companies in the mineral resources sector, associations and unions of entrepreneurs, research organizations, and educational institutions.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the International Competence Centre for Mining Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO, and the Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, a leading university in the field of training and research for the mineral resources sector, which provided its facilities for the Dialogue.

The working languages of the Dialogue are Russian and English.
